Jazz Festival
The Saint Lucia Jazz Festival is held in May every year and has become one of the most important musical events in the Caribbean, if not in the world!
Started in 1991 by the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, the Jazz Festival was originally a four-day event. Well-known artistes performed at the Cultural Centre, the major hotels and, on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons, at Pigeon Island National Landmark. Over time, the Festival has grown to include lunchtime performances on Derek Walcott Square in Castries and events at other locations round the island. In addition to the Saturday and Sunday afternoon sessions which this year drew record crowds, there are also now evening shows at Pigeon Island.
